Bregtje Groen

Attorney at law

Bregtje read and completed her degree in Dutch civil law at the University of Groningen in 2000. She also studied law in Sweden (Uppsala) for six months. After completing her studies, Bregtje spent a year travelling around Oceania and Southeast Asia.

She started her career as a legal account manager at a Trust office. Bregtje's field of expertise is employment law and she has been practicing as a lawyer in the Netherlands since 2004. Bregtje graduated with honors from the Grotius specialization course in employment law in 2009. She joined VMW Taxand on 1 May 2011 and works as a senior associate in the employment law section.

Bregtje advises employees and (inter-)national employers in various sectors, such as, healthcare, ICT, retail, media and culture. Her advice focuses on flexible employment relationships, drafting and termination of employment agreements, employment conditions, reorganizations, (collective) dismissal, sickness and re-integration, workers' participation, collective bargaining issues, confidentiality and non-competition clauses, equal treatment, employee's leave issues and employer's liability. She also has extensive litigation experience.

She is a member of various specialist associations including the Association of Employment Lawyers Netherlands (VAAN), the Association of Employment Law (VvA) and the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA).
