Irene Scholten - Verheijen

Irene Scholten-Verheijen is a graduate of Leiden University Law School (Leiden, The Netherlands) and studied at Hastings College of Law (San Francisco, USA). In the initial phase of her career she held positions as associate and legal advisor at the Dutch Independent Post and Telecommunications Authority (OPTA). She moved on to become an attorney at law at Van Mens & Wisselink in 2002. After a short period at Dijkstra Voermans, she accepted a position as Partner at VMW Taxand.

Irene practices administrative law and is involved in legal proceedings on behalf of or against governmental bodies & institutions. She specializes in regulated markets in which the interaction between government and corporations is a center piece. Within this framework, her focus is pharma and food industries.
Irene is a member of the Dutch Association for Administrative Law (VAR), the Dutch Association for Food Law (NVLR), the European Food Law Association (EFLA), the Association for Pharmacy and Law (VFenR), the Association for Health Law (VGR), the Association for Media and Communications Law (VMC), the Dutch Association for Energy Law (NeVER) and the Dutch Association for Privacy Law (VPR).
