Georg took his degrees both in Chinese Language and Culture and in International Law at the University of Leiden, the Netherlands, in 1987 and 1990 respectively. He started working as attorney-at-law with De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek in 1991. After completing his postdoctoral study Corporate Recovery at the Radboud University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands, in 1995 he joined the corporate recovery department of Baker & McKenzie, Amsterdam. In 1998 Georg left for Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles, to head up the Andersen Legal law firm there. In 2001 Georg returned to the Netherlands, where he joined the partnership of AKD Prinsen Van Wijmen. At this firm he was head of the corporate recovery department. After completing his doctoral thesis on the legal seizure of shares in capital corporations at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Georg joined VMW Taxand (Van Mens & Wisselink at that time) as a partner Corporate Law in 2008.

Georg works nationally and internationally in Corporate Law, with a strong tendency towards advice and litigation in the fields of financial law, liens and securities, corporate recovery, (corporate) liabilities and shareholders’ disputes, besides which he advises on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, shareholders’ and investors’ agreements and commercial contracts as well.

Recent experience includes: litigating a € 50 million liability claim against a large Dutch lawfirm, Litigating a € 45 million liability claim against a Dutch pharmaceutical firm, Restructuring several major Dutch printing firms and Restructuring a group of metal works.

Georg is a proficient legal writer. Besides five books, he has published well over 80 articles, opinions and book reviews in the fields of civil (procedure) law, insolvency law, directors’ liabilities and financial law. Georg has been editor of several Dutch and international legal journals. Presently he is editor of the Dutch Insolvency Review and co-author of the authoritative loose-leaf editions on the Dutch Bankruptcy Act and the Dutch Financial Supervision Act.
