History
VMW Taxand is a medium-large legal firm with a balanced integrated civil and tax practice supported by the civil law notary. It was founded in 1991 as Van Mens en Wisselink, and quickly expanded with several offices in the Netherlands and Germany. At the end of 2009 / start of 2010, a strategic regrouping is taking place and the office will continue as one branch from Amsterdam. In order to clearly project the international character of our office, Van Mens en Wisselink will be rebranded as VMW Taxand: the acronym VMW is easy to pronounce internationally and the addition of Taxand expresses the exclusive membership of the global Taxand network (www.taxand.com) the office has, in addition to the global network of Globalaw (www.globalaw.com) which we have been part of for many years.

Culture
The civil and tax practices of the office work in close partnership. We enjoy that. That is where our strength lies: offering an integrated product and one point of contact through an efficient partnership between these two practices. We are curious, widely orientated and sometimes a bit headstrong. We train our employees in a broad way, and at the same time we encourage them to look for their passion and to expand this passion into a blossoming practice. We are ambitious but do not like a dog eat dog culture. United we stand is our maxim.

The work
The office is characterised by an integrated corporate law and tax practice and a strong employment law section. We have the courage to differentiate ourselves through a strong international orientation and a high level of quality which is partly proven by our strong ties with the academic world. Our international outlook is particularly clearly visible in the presence of our Japanese, Turkish and German desks which employ lawyers who speak the language of the country of business. We also have desks with a strong focus on certain sectors (the gaming industry and the energy sector, for instance). We advise specific clients in a multi-disciplinary manner via the abovementioned industries and country desks.

Development
It is also important to us that our employees continue to develop. For their own sake, but also in order to allow them to provide high quality advice to our clients. Knowledge is one of our most cherished assets. From the start, the office has had close ties to the Dutch academic world and our professionals often also work as lecturers at universities and regularly publish work in key trade publications. We hold a weekly technical meetings and organise the VMW academy three times per year. Our trainee lawyers are members of the Netherlands Bar Association and the tax advisers are members of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers. We encourage our tax advisers to also be a member of the Netherlands Bar Association. When you proceed in your career we offer the opportunity of additional development through renowned training institutions.

International
Are you ambitious and enterprising? Is a secondment abroad for a shorter or longer period of time on your wish list? Our close ties with international networks allow us to help you realise your international aspirations, whether you are at the start of your career, or further advanced already.
